2008 ford escape hybrid. consumer the safety recall for when engine goes into "idle" mode and does not respond to throttle inputs when a fault is detected with the motor electronics coolant pump, was not being fully address by ford. *ta the consumer stated the real safety issue was the software that triggered the engine going into immediate idle mode. future failures of the motor electronics coolant pump would trigger the engine going into the immediate idle mode. the consumer believed the appropriate fix would be to change the software from going to immediate idle mode to going to idle mode after a delay of a period of time or when the vehicle's speed is zero whichever occurs first. recall # 14v526000. jb

2006 ford escape hybrid consumer writes in regards to engine issues. *smd the consumer stated while driving, it fel as though the vehicle was going to stall. there was a warning, that the engine was overheating was present. the next day, the vehicle would not crank and the overheated warning was steady, even though he engine was cold. the vehicle was towed to the dealer, where a coolant leak from a cracked head was discovered. the consumer referenced recall # 14v526000. *jb

2006 ford escape hybrid. consumer writes in regards to engine malfunction while driving. *smd the consumer stated the engine lost power and eventually went dead. after waiting a few minutes, he was able to re-start the vehicle, but only traveled a few minutes, before it went dead again. the service consultant at the dealer informed the consumer the fan on the hybrid battery had malfunctioned. less than three months later, the consumer experienced the same issue, where the engine stopped at highway speed and the electrical system shut down. the consumer returned to the dealer and was informed another portion of the hybrid drive system had overheated. seven months later, the consumer received a recall letter describing the exact symptoms he experienced. when he returned to the dealer with the recall notice, they stated one of the two repairs were covered. however, he would need to file the necessary paperwork to receive a refund. the consumer referenced recall # 14v526000. *jb
