i've had problems since the first month of purchase, first time it stalled pulling out of a stop sign with my kids in the truck, scared us to death. second time, my wife and i were on the interstate going on vacation driving at night in a steady rain, truck begin to shudder and stalled out, had to pull over about 5 times during a 5 hour trip and sit until it would crank and run again. when i returned i took into ford, they couldn't find any problems, truck kept doing the same in a rain so i took back to dealer and after the third or fourth time they said there is a defect and ford has a new part coming out in october of 2012, ended up getting the part installed in december 2012. truck is doing the same thing, just stalled on me in branson, missouri, i called dealer and corporate ford and get nowhere. i have a complaint file number with ford corporate on this problem but no will help me or offer me a new truck without ecoboost. very frustrating to buy a brand new $57k truck and find out it does not run well in the rain and ford new of this problem when they sold it to me in april 2012. now i find out there is a class action suit started in louisiana and ohio for the eco boost trucks. dont really want to go this route but ford and autonation-cook whitehead ford dealer has given me no choice. we need to all publicly let our dealers know by being on the news or other means so ford will stop selling these vehicles. its not right to treat us this way. *tr

i purchased my 2013 ford f-150 ecoboost in december 2012. the first incident occurred in approximately march 2013. it was raining. i was accelerating from a stop light where i had made a complete stop. i could not gain speed very well. the engine light was flashing. the engine was sputtering/popping and the whole truck was shaking violently. the same has occurred ever since on more than a dozen occasions and at various speeds. however, each time was while it was raining. never has had a problem in fair weather. i experience a total loss of power, many times when on the interstate or while trying to overcome a vehicle. the front-end lurches, i lose speed dramatically, the engine shakes violently when i accelerate. the engine sputters and sounds like it doesn't know whether to choke out or blow up. the engine light flashes for approximately 1 minute each time. almost sounds like a misfire. happens several times during one trip often, but always when it rains. continuous occurrences and beginning to become more frequent. have taken my truck to 2 dealerships, neither of which can detect any dtcs or any other problem. offer no advice other than to keep driving it until the engine light stays on permanently. they have no idea what causes the problem. i am really afraid that the problem may result in a motor vehicle accident. have not had one yet, but have a had a couple of incidents where i had to pull over to avoid an accident. problem is so persistent that i am considering trading vehicles, especially since i have been offered no remedy for the problem. i have also filed a complaint with ford motor co. on 07/30/2013. *tr

six months after i bought my truck i noticed a shuttering and hesitation while i was on the highway. the shuttering happens when i am cruising at 55-60 mph. more noticeably when the truck is climbing a slight incline on the road while lightly accelerating to maintain 60 mph. i had the dealer look at it 3 times in the last 2 years. the first time they reprogrammed the transmission and the computer. it did not solve the problem. brought it back the second time and i went for a ride with the technician and he noticed the shuttering. he said there was no engine light and no codes to find out what the problem is. finally the third time they said ford is aware of the problem and there engineers are trying to find a solution. i also had problems with my transmission. i was slowing down to come to a stop and the transmission downshifted so hard i thought i got rear ended by the vehicle behind me. *tr

the first time this happened, my husband was pulling out into a center turn lane in order to merge with traffic and the motor cut out and bogged down. just four days later, i had the same experience where the motor completely cut out while i was going through a yield sign, slowing down, and then getting on the accelerator to increase speed. i counted between 3-5 seconds before the truck started accelerating again. this is very dangerous and had someone been right behind me it could've been a bad wreck. it happened to me this first time right after i picked my truck up from the dealership and them telling me my vin didn't qualify for the tsb with replacing the cac (intercooler) and adding the air deflector plate. i have since gone to a second dealership and they are performing the tsb for me after having my truck for 5 days now, and being able to reproduce the problem easily. i hope this fixes it. i've already had a check engine light come on and my driver's side catalytic converter was replaced. i've had numerous leaks all under the 36,000 mile warranty - front main seal, transmission leak, rear diff leak, and even some deteriorating rubber gaskets in the doors, and am seriously questioning ford's quality these days. *tr

while driving on interstate i attempted to pass a slower vehicle. after moving over and accelerating - the truck buckled and stalled! i was almost rear ended by an 18 wheeler at 65 mph! this was very close to being a serious accident involving multiple vehicles. please investigate and resolve this issue as ford doesn't seem to be concerned about it. this vehicle has a 3.5l ecoboost engine with an automatic transmission and it also shudders at various speeds with a hard clunking sound during gear changes. thank you. *tr

this truck has the 3.5 liter v6 ecoboost engine. the truck is company owned by wl hall co. i was accelerating while attempting to pass another vehicle. the vehicle lost power then started to shake, shudder and jerk. the check engine light came on and the vehicle's engine started to run very roughly. this happened again at approximately 9,700 miles, 28,000 miles and 60,000 miles. ford has attempted to fix the issue three times. the truck will be going in for service for this issue a fourth time. due to improper performance, this issue almost caused an accident this last time. there have also been numerous incidents over the life of the vehicle where it did not shift properly and dropped power, but then the vehicle corrected itself. *tr

while driving south on hwy 87 south toward southport, nc near sandyfield, close to the hyw 11 intersection, i performed a hard acceleration to pass a slow moving vehicle when i experienced a sudden loss of power immediately followed by shaking. if the vehicle i was passing was going faster than 50 mph i would not have made it around him. while i did not stop, i did slow the vehicle to under 50 mph to which the engine light stopped flashing as did the shaking. the weather was partly sunny with high humidity. road conditions were dry.

just purchased used ford f150 supercrew with ecoboost engine with 26,000+ miles a week ago. i first noticed a shudder in the rear end when backing out of my driveway a couple days ago. felt like driving over a washboard. did not pay a lot of attention to it as i had not noticed it before. went on 575 mile trip over the weekend and this shuddering persisted while pulling up to stops and starting out, both turning and going straight. only occurs 65% of the time but the shuddering is very intense at low speed but appears to get better at cruising speeds. you can hear and feel the shuddering. *tr

this write up is for a 2012 ford f-150 truck with the 3.5l ecoboost v-6 installed. jan, 2013-while driving on i-24e, i was pulling out from the rest stop, just north west of exit 1. i went to pass a 18 wheeler and my truck came "unglued". it practically died in the passing lane when i pressed the gas peddle. it shuddered so hard; i didn't think i would be able to get off of the road before it died. it was missing and shuddering like crazy. i pulled off exit 1, shut the truck down and restarted. it ran ok without that same thing happening on the way home. i had a pretty descent "miss" in 6th gear, running down the interstate at 75mph. something very strange happened here. it was the first issue i've had with my truck. although i've noticed recently the mpg is down by 2.0 mpg or more for the last three weeks, and this from refueling at different locations, and the same driving style. ford applied the tsb to reprogram the pcm/tcm to latest level, installed a deflector shield on the intercooler and possibly replace the drivers side catalytic converter if needed. july, 2013- this weekend while driving on i-65n, i had the same issue happen. the truck now has 17,000 miles on it. i've had the vehicle back into my local ford dealer four times for this issue. the vehicle exhibits this issue when it's rainy and has been driven in the rain for several (50 or more) miles. in heavy traffic this is a very dangerous issue. the vehicle goes into some type of safe mode and will barely limp off the road. if this issue were to occur while crossing a four lane hwy, and sputtered one could be seriously injured or injure someone else. *tr

having issues with the ecoboost accelerating upon take off or getting on to road ways numerous times i have come close to getting hit because of no power upon accelerating now this has been going since purchase new with only 116 miles and purchase date 3-17-2013. the dealer says this is normal operating condition for the vehicle to have lag time before power.my feeling is if you are sitting at a light and you give the vehicle gas the vehicle will move slow and then do a sudden acceleration and could cause death or injury to someone unsafe truck. now i'm having issues with the driver window not going down or when it is down will not go up they say this is normal operating procedure ford has some issue and they need to be corrected before someone gets killed or hurt bad. *tr

while merging into traffic on the expressway today in miami, at about 35 mph, i had to accelerate to get out of the merging lane, at which time (for the third time since i bought the truck in 2011) the truck lost all power to the engine (a 3.5l ecoboost) and began to sputter, shake, and decelerate. luckily for myself and the other drivers on the road i did leave a sufficient gap between myself and the car to my rear to give that vehicle time to react to what equates to a vehicle pulling out in front of him/her and gently pressing the brakes without the brake lights engaging. my truck hovered between 25 and 30 mph for about 30 seconds with it doing the sputtering and slowing thing each time i attempted to accelerate during that time period. after pretty much coasting for 30 or so seconds, the truck sprang back to life and drove as advertised. from what i've read, this is not an isolated incident and i (as well as others) believe ford should be held accountable for this defect. i'm not looking for a new truck, i'd just like the problem fixed. even though no deaths or injuries have been reported due to this "yet", you can see the danger of having your engine loose power when you need it the most. unfortunately for their customers, all ford seems to be concerned with is the loss of a buck......not the loss of a life!!! while accelerating to merge into traffic on the highway my truck lost acceleration at 60 mph. i let off the throttle and eased into it. the whole truck started shuttering and transmission was shifting extremely hard. it was all i could do to maintain speed. at the first stop light i shut the truck off in an attempt to reset the ecu. once i took off it didn't happen again. it's just scary knowing that i could have caused an accident while trying to merge into traffic. this is not safe at all. *tr

i was traveling in the righthand lane of the east bound side of i24 around manchester, tn. my speed was approximately 65-70 mph. i suddenly came up upon slower traffic in the same lane and signaled to pass the slower traffic. as i looked in my mirrors for traffic behind me i noticed another vehicle closing on me in a hurry. i depressed the accelerator to gain speed and make the pass. the vehicle lurched and the motor suddenly shut down and wouldn't accelerate in the middle of my pass. the vehicle behind me locked their brakes and managed to slow their vehicle down before possibly colliding with me. i let the slower traffic on the right pass and signaled to get back in the right hand lane. this has happened twice to me and i think there is a real possibility this could endanger lives and property if not corrected. my 2011 ford f-150 is equipped with the 3.5 liter ecoboost v6. *tr

this is in reference to a loss of power while passing in rainy conditions in my 2012 f-150 crew cab 4x4 3.5 v-6 eco boost. after driving at slow speeds (25-35mph) and fairly constant throttle on a 2 lane highway for approximately 30 miles, i attempted to pass a vehicle starting at 50 mph. as soon as i was on boost i experienced a significant loss of power forcing me to take violent evasive maneuvers including full braking and hitting the shoulder, to barely avoid a head-on collision with an oncoming vehicle. as the bed was empty i assumed that i spun the tires on the very wet highway and hit a rev-limiter as it felt like i lost several cylinders. once it returned to 6th gear and about 1500 rpm the engine ran normally. subsequently i have rolled on the throttle slowly when requiring full power in wet conditions. after reading about the other similar issues i realized that i had experienced a problem with the turbocharging system. with this in mind i now regularly go to boost where i don't need the power to remove the condensation from the intercooler when conditions are wet. *tr

driving turnpike at 1:30am with wet roads but not raining. cruise control was engaged at 75 mph. approaching a bridge and upon starting to climb on the incline i heard a noise that sounded like the transmission had disengaged then the engine light started pulsating on and off so i tried to accelerate and the truck did not react but since i was going 75 it took me over the bridge and then i coasted down the bridge with the cruise control disengaged. i pulled over to the side and placed truck in park the engine was still on. i turned off the truck and waited about 1 minute then i turned the key back on and the truck started up with no engine light or any sign of problems. i drove all the way to miami with no further incidents. i took the truck to ford of homestead and they said they could not pull a code out of the computer that showed anything had happened. i later took the truck again this time making noises when u accelerated it sounded like the transmission was shuddering and again nothing they could do to replicate it. again on or around march 2013 i took the truck to another ford dealer and tried to replicate the shuddering between 3 or 4 th gear to no avail. the truck this past weekend on the same bridge again with wet roads made the shuddering sound and feeling but the engine light did not come on and the truck upon getting to the top of the bridge continued without having to be turned off and on. at first i thought this might be a transmission issue but whenever i guess the truck accelerates to gain speed to go over the bridge or after leaving a stop or red light between 3 or 4 th gears it shudders and when the bridge comes around it goes to a lower gear and starts losing power. when it happens between 3 or 4th gears it is with me accelerating. they told me that the truck has a memory if you drive it hard or softly it remembers this and shifts differently. *tr
