it was a handicap conversion purchased through coachcraft, in brownsville payed for on feb 5,1999.the actual conversion done by vantage mobility in phoenix ar.was not deliverd till 6-11-99 and has been a constant source of problems.the lift was installed wrong and will not work properly or reliably for me the handicapped to be independent, the fuel tank when filled leaks fume into the interior choking everyone and forcing us to exit the vehicle till fumes clear, the air bag has warning on dash saying do not operate vehicle if light flash's, the light has always flashed and we're told don't worry about it. we have $46,000 dollars invested in a vehicle that has spent more time in the shop,over the past year and a half we have actually had the vehicle only 90 days total time and each time we pick it up its like it has never been worked on. vantage will not acknowlege any comunications we've sent and coachcraft has ignored our problem.the latest party line is "the parts are lost in the mail".e

this is a problem with a modification--electronic hand controls provided by emc co in louisiana. this problem has happened several times: they are electronic hand controls that work with the brake and accelerator. three times the controls have failed to work so that either the accelerator has been stuck or the brakes have not worked. from what i understand doing a little investigation of my own, this is not an isolated problem, but i can find no information on the www regarding it. i hope you'll look into it.*ak

our van was modified in december, 2000, with a raised roof and extended doors to allow accessability for our handicapped son. we discovered around july, 2002, that the company performing the modification had not installed a reinforced steel cage or used a raised fiberglass roof already reinforced. this is a major omission that could cause serious injury in the event of a rollover or other serious incident; a major safety issue. we have notified the company on july 29, 2002of our concerns but have not received a response as of this date. the company performing the modifcation is accessability specialists, inc., 1815 corporate square boulevard suite 200, jacksonville, florida 32216. the company president is west westmoreland. we have filed a formal complaint with nmeda (web site www.nmeda.org) of which the company is a member.*ak

2004 ford wagon e350 with floor lowered by vantage mobility int. for handicap people. during stop and go driving like traffic jams while pulling a trailer the floor between front seats gets more than hot enough to burn your foot. sliding door opener has broken 6 times leaving the door free to slide open and shut. i keep a bungy cord to tie it up but interior lights come on and off when using bungy cord. the original latch by ford was removed to install the door opener. split drive shaft installed to make room for under vehicle lift by braun corp has a low roar to it. bicycle type chain for the sliding door opener at wheelchair lift drags across part of door jamb.(no pulley or sprocket). paid $48,000 for this new 2004 model in april, 2005 i'm asking for my money back. please help us. *nm

after full acceleration, the throttle on my 1999 ford e250 stuck wide open. the vehicle did not shut off and there was no time to shift into neutral. the vehicle has adaptive controls making shifting more difficult than for a non-disabled driver. the adaptive equipment could be the cause, but most likely it was the ford throttle. *nm

tl* - the contact has a aevit by emc. the contact stated that this equipment was used to help with steering, braking, and acceleration. the contact was just going down the road when all of a sudden the aevit system made a hard left and sent the vehicle into a ditch. the contact had to get seven stitches on his the right side of forehead. a police report was taken. the weather that day was cold, but clear. he was driving approximately 25 - 30 mph. there was approximately $7,000 worth of damage done to the vehicle. the vehicle has been repaired, but he has not driven the vehicle since. the contact no longer had the vehicle. *ak
