rear window has a leak on the passenger side of the sliding window that has been sent back to the shop several time for repairs. its on oing ! the window has been replaced w/ frame three times , but the truck has been in shop several times prior to and after the windows have been replaced. it would last a short time and would then start leaking all over again. ** presently still leaking **. # 2 . engine has a knock during start up. sounds more like a diesel ! both issues have been present since 14,000 miles or so. this truck has had several problems. to mention a few ; rear bumper rusting out, door & shift nobs breaking , body paint peeling, rattle in floor gear shift ( still present ), ** now the air conditioning is not working **. i like the truck, but would rather have one with out all the problems !

the engine melted completely without any warning. according to the dealer, this was due to a failed impeller in the water heater. it was on its way into the shop for the usual repeat problem with the speedometer/odometer (that is why the reading is 11,000 but the car has approximately 99,000 miles). smoke started to come out of the engine and it stopped completely. it was towed to the dealership. i have been told that the impeller broke, causing the water pump to fail and the engine to overheat and melt inside. the engine is now useless. the car is sitting at the dealership in parts. i have been told by the dealer that it is worthless now and that even a rebuilt engine costs more than the car is worth. the engine did not show that it was hot (however, this is on the same instrument panel as the malfunctioning odomoeter/speedometer). there was no warning whatsoever. it is unsafe for engines to suddenly melt while one is driving. the car has had all regular maintenance and recalls. this is inexcusable for a car this age. the $3,600 property damage extimate is my estimate of the value of the car. i see that there have been several previous complaints to nhtsa regarding the same problem. is ford fixing this or not? contour owners should be made aware that their engines may suddenly melt, or the impellers should be recalled and replaced. i would appreciate it if you would look into this for the safety of those driving contours and those driving behind them. if you would like any information about my car, it is at palmer motors in pieces.

ford offered a free headgasket replacement for my 1995 taurus in a july18 2000 letter( that i received in feb. 2002). when they had the headgasket off they called me to the my car and said that they would have to replace the gear gasket or it would cause the headh\gasket to "go bad" again. when i asked them why the gear gasket was not included in the free replacement then has no answer. it cost me $567.29 to have them replace the gear gasket. i think that this is a bate and switch. what can i do about this ripoff?

cold morning starts, eng: 7.3diesel. problem started around dec. 31,2001. on first start eng. is slow to start, when it does start it goes from 300rpm to 1200rpm about three times and then settles down on 800rpm's and runs ok. the veh. has been in approx. 4 or 5 times for this problem. the dealer shows the veh, has been in twice for this problem. i have talked with other ford truck owners with a 7,3 diesel eng. and no one has had this problem. the dealer tells me that this is normal for the 7.3di in cold weather. question: if this is normal why did it take almost a year for this to start. other problems: 1. aarm reman inj pkg #8 cyl replaced. 2. warped rotors (front), warped pads heat cracked, calipers replaced. 3. 50 miles on truck, truck pulled to the right all the time, took into dealer 4 times, (carson city), dealer in fallon came to my house took the veh. to fallon & fixed pulling problem. 4. powertrain control module (pcm) replaced. 5. egr pressure feedback-pfe/exhaust back pressure -ebp-replaced. 6. dealer installed fuel heater kit , sop top water fuel heater. ( all of this & this diesel still goes from 300rpm to 1200rpm). i talked to a diesel shop in reno, nv. and he said there is something wrong with this diesel. i hate to think what this is doing to the internal parts of this eng. i would think that the bearings at 300rpm are getting very little oil pressure. ( how ever the dealer said this is normal and that i should plug in the eng. heater. question: how do you plug in when you are on vacation or out fishing which i do alot.

i recently purchased a ford f250 super duty 6.0 liter diesel pickup. this is a new engine just released this year. their are already many service bulletins on this from ford. one of the main problems is running rough, stalling, slow response from a stop, etc. fords latest bulletins to their dealers is their is no fix for this at the present time. this is a dangerous situation which could result in an accident. it is my believe these should be taken off the market until they resolve the problem. i am wondering why they are still selling these to the public and not informing them their could be a problem with them. i presently own one of these and it has been in the shop for over 30 days since dec 9th. at the present time my is so bad i cannot drive it anymore because of stalling on the highway. there are many people out their having the same problem. are we going to wait until there is a serious injury and then try to correct the problem? ts

ford super duty diesel f-250 : engine cuts out and/or dies during all load conditions. service engine soon light comes on under most severe cut-outs. ford service has repeatedly (8 times in 2 years) worked on the issue on my truck as well as other owners trucks with whom i am acquainted. this engine failure occurs approximately once every 10 miles, and is very dangerous when trying to enter a freeway or pass on a fm road. i believe ford damaged the engine control unit when they installed their ford authorized power chip. they seem to keep replacing less costly components and giving me the truck back. i feel they are waiting for my truck to get out of the warranty period before the real story is told. that way, i will be out the money for what ever is really wrong with this vehicles. others that i have talked to have the same issue. perhaps its the dealership covering up, but i would not put it past ford to be behind this. *jb

my wife and i recently purchased a 2003 f250. while on vacation camping in florida the truck failed to start one morning. the truck took 5 days to repair due to a ruptured high pressure oil line inside the engine which was consequently shutting down all fuel pressure. the truck is currently in the shop for almost stalling on my way to work last week. dealer indicated this was due to a ruptured fuel line inside the engine which was subsequently dumping diesel into the crank case....where will it end? truck is less than 3 months old and will have been in the shop for almost 3 weeks after this recent failure.*jb

my husband and i recently purchased a ford f250 super duty 6.0 liter diesel pickup truck. this is a new engine that was just released this year. there are already many service bulletins listed on this particular truck from ford. the problem with our truck started with the check engine light coming on. we had owned the truck for three days and it was in the shop for the first time. a part was replaced and two days later the light was back on again. back to the shop for the second time in less than a week from the date of purchase. the next part being replaced was delayed in shipping. the dealership offered to remove the needed part from another truck on the lot but was warned by ford that they were aware of the defective part and using one from another truck would not correct the problem. four days later we were able to pick up the "repaired" truck. five days later the light is back on again and now it is also running rough, slow acceleration, stalling, slow response from a stop, etc. fords latest bulletins to their dealers is that there is no fix for this at the present time. this is a very dangerous situation which could result in an accident from the slow acceleration and stalling. this vehicle should be taken off the market until they resolve the problem. those that have already purchased this vehicle need corrective repair action or reimbursement. after finding similar complaints already listed i am wondering why they are still selling these to the public. apparently there are many people that are having the same problem. are you going to wait until there is a serious injury or death and then try to correct the problem? please help! nb
