a month ago started hearing a high pitch whistling sound. got louder as i accelerated, now a constant sound. driving at 2,000 rpm it wouldn't shift into 2nd gear. went into "limp mode" took to transmission shop said that torque converter was falling apart and debris got into the fluid and up into pump and.transmission. told i need a new transmission. 7yr old vehicle needing a transmission? had chevy's that lasted well over 210,000 mi. filling gas tank waiting for automatic shut off. never happened. gasoline spewed out onto ground and me. this is constant. tried a different pump and station, still gas not shutting off. i no longer fill up the gas tank. having to figure out what size tank and how much gas is left in tank before adding more gas. this started 2 yrs ago. chrysler step up and take responsibility for the substandard parts that are used to build these vehicles that the public put trust in!!!!!!! i will no longer buy a dodge / chrysler product. *tr

this problem has happened to me 3 different times. and the last time was back in november 2014. while i am driving my vehicle stalls, my brakes lock up and my steering wheel looses power with the rest of my car except my radio. this is extremely scary because i am putting my life and others in danger. and chrysler says there is no problem because it doesn't show up on diagnostic. but when you pull up recalls and defects. the problem is right there. when this problem happens. i have to turn off my keys and restart the vehicle for it to work again. but you never know when this is going to happen there are no warning signs.

0 person(s) were injured. 0 person(s) died.Mileage was 81000 miles. Vehicle was not using anit-lock brakes. Vehicle was not using Cruise Control. Vehicle Speed: 35 mph.

2009 dodge nitro - tpm valve stems corrosion at valve stem retaining nut: when retaining nut fails, falls off, it then chews up the inside of the tire, and the valve stem blows out tire while driving - tire goes flat so fast operator must stop before wheel is damaged and now we find out from the dealer that all 4 tires have to be replaced on 4x4 vehicles or it will lead to transfer case (transmission) issues down the road. you cannot just replace the damaged tire. dodge needs to send out a recall to inspect the valve stem retaining nut on vehicle with tpm systems and replace with a stainless steel nut. if the tpm is removed you will have an annoying light on in the dash complaining about a tire sensor issue. anyone else that has this same issue should file it with ntsb immediately. *tr

i started the car to move it in the driveway. after backing up, i put it in park. i then tried to place it in drive, and the shifter lock wouldn't release. (it normally releases when the brake pedal is depressed.) after a few tries, i attempted to turn off and restart the car. when i turned the ignition to restart the car, all the electronics activated, the headlights were flashing, the horn was cycling, the wipers and sprayers were running, etc. i turned off the ignition and popped the hood release. when i got out and walked to the front of the vehicle, i noticed light coming from the hood gap. when i opened the hood, flames were surrounding all sides of the tipm unit, and the hood insulation liner was on fire. i disconnected the battery and was able to extinguish the fire. *tr
