a rear brake lining separated from the shoe. i found the problem the first time while greasing the rear wheel bearings. the loose shoe was still in place captured by the caliper. i reported the problem to my dealer. i was told there had been a recall: campaign number 92v017000, but my 1990 vehicle was not part of the recall since it effected 1989 models. however, i convinced the dealer i did have the problem since i had a lining that separated from the shoe. the dealer replaced my rear brakes at that time. i have no record of the service date, and the dealer claims he has no record, although he also has no record of the recall service that was done to correct a problem with water collecting in a rear wheel well either. two days ago, i was again greasing the rear wheel bearings on this vehicle and i discovered the exact same problem! one of the brake linings was separated from the shoe again! i am very concerned for two reasons. first, the original recall did not correct all the defective brakes. my 1990 chrysler lebaron obviously had the problem even though chrysler insisted it effected only 1989 models and my vin number was not included. second, parts used after the recall was announced, still exhibit the same problem. this is a serious safety issue!

during a required inspection of my wifes 2002 chrysler cirris vin#1c3ej46xyn297907 the brake linings were disengrating(both ends of the front brakes) back brake seals leaking.the vehicle was bought june of 2000 she averages 4,000 per year 17,000 miles on the car. it is kept in aheated garage and has been serviced at the dealer where she bought it for reg. maint. and inspection.(we have complained about the brakes squealing from the ist year and have been told that it is just the open brakes now days and it is just road dirt. all along it was the brake pads disingrating. it cost $500.00 to replace . since we had complaind each time i feel it was the dealer not wanting to change them when they were under warranty. i called chrysler consumer line and was told what did i expect' the brakes disinigrated from non-use since the vehicle is driven only 4,000 per year. unfortunately i do not have the expertise to fight them and my atorney said chrysler would tie everything up so long it would cost too much to sue. so there again the guy with the money wins fair or not. i feel like a fool as i have talke others into buying chrysler products and am sure now they will get the same treatment.if somethng is wrong with ther vehicles. thank you del landfried ps i have the parts. *ak

rear brakes have not worked correctly since car was bought new in 2002 (pt cruiser). rear brakes have always made a grinding noise for first or second use and then the grinding noise goes away. car has 69,600 miles on it and i bought it new. i recently pulled the rear wheels and found that the brake pads were not worn (for both rear wheels) and the drums had rust streaks on them. also, rust dust was covering everything. it appears that the brakes are not working correctly and i plan on replacing the calipers. *jb
