front-end noises were reported to the selling dealer when the vehicle was under warranty. after three shop visits to a cary, nc, dealer during which the technicians "could not replicate the problem," we decided to just live with the noises. after moving from north carolina to florida, the noises got worse. a clermont, fl, chrysler deal charged us $100 to check out the problem and "couldn't find anything," but they did offer to replace the ball joints and control arms for about $1100. by that time, of course, it was out of warranty. we took it to a private mechanic, who found that the ball joints and control arms did indeed need to be replaced, so we did. the disconcerting part of this is that the problem when the vehicle only had about 30,000 miles on it and that the tech's at two dealers either couldn't determine or didn't bother to determine the cause of the problem. then, the replacement that should have been done under warranty had to be done out of pocket at about 58,000. i understand that this sort of thing could be very dangerous. now, from the front end sounds we're hearing again, we may need to have cv joints replaced. we have an extended drivetrain warranty, and that is supposed to be covered, so it will be interesting to see how the chrysler dealer handles it. *tr

i was backing out of a friends driveway in my 1997 chrysler sebring convertible when all of a sudden there was a loud noise and a grinding sound. when i got out to look, it turns out that the front lower ball joint assembly broke in half by the front hub assembly. i then called a tow truck to have my vehicle towed and when the tow company came they informed me this was the 4th chrysler convertible in two months that they have had to tow with the front lower ball joint breaking. i then decided to check for recalls and it turns out there are 2 recalls on this vehicle but when i contacted the loccal chrysler dealership they inform me that there is no recall on my car. how can that be when you list the following recalls 04v021000, 09e056000 and 10e059000 on your website. i am just very thankful that i was not driving at a higher rate of speed when this happened or it could have been serious, like two of the other accidents that happened the tow truck driver shared with me. two of the other vehicles he towed, the drivers were injured when the ball joint broke and they crashed.

front passenger side ball joint failure. while turning right into a shopping plaza the passenger side front ball joint failed on my wife's 1999 chrysler sebring convertible limited. this car at the time had less than 61,000 miles on it. the car was purchased as a used car the day before. the car was safety checked by the dealers mechanic before the sale with no issues noted that were not repaired. i understand through a search of the nhtsa database that there are other reports of ball joint failures and a safety recall on the coupe model of the sebring for this failure. i would say given the mileage on this used car that a similar recall is warranted since this car exhibits the same type of failure with little warning of a problem existing. this is a safety issue that needs to be rectified by the manufacture due to a clearly faulty design. fortunately in this case no one was injured nor was damage done to anything other than the car. *tr

Mileage was 60400 miles. Vehicle was not using anit-lock brakes. Vehicle was not using Cruise Control. Vehicle Speed: 25 mph.

i bought the car brand new, added the extended warranty and had several things go wrong. just to name a few: engine shut down without warning and had to be replaced when it was just over the 100,000 mile warranty even though oil changes and regular maintenance was done 3-4000 miles, transmission pan had metal shavings in it which resulted in poor performance, control arm had to be replaced after chrysler dealership told me the problem was the motor mounts(i did not need the mounts replaced and the repair was not done under warranty), water pump & thermostat housing(was told both weren't covered and should have been), rear window defroster replaced and/or fixed three times, driver power window regulator replaced(glass had to be replaced because of damage from the regulator, which i paid), visor vanity light-part ordered but "too late" when tried to have it replaced(was not notified that part was in), dash lights-on & off, headlights replace several times, hub seal replaced, passenger seat adjust arm broken, lighter inoperative, check engine light on first month i had the car! *tr
