in august of 1998 i began to detect a creaking noise when i turned the steering wheel (even at a full stop). i brought it back to the dealership where i purchased the car and they determined that the lower right ball joint had lost it's lubrication. the service manager indicated that since there wasn't a grease fitting on the ball joint it needed to be replaced. the repair could not be done that day and an appointment was made for a couple of days later. i asked the service manager if the car was safe to drive, and he replied yes. the next day , while making a right hand turn on a residential street (5 - 10 mph) the car collapsed onto the right tire. when i looked at the damage i saw the the tire almost flat on the ground, the driveshaft was out of the transmission, the cv joint was pulled from the transmission and the ball joint was cut in half. there was also damage to the fender of the car. salerno chrysler inspected the left ball joint and said it was fine. the car was repaired and a little over two months later the left side began to make the same noise. i brought the car back to the dealership, and they told me they could not reproduce the noise. the car was making noise the next day, and i decided to bring the car somewhere else. i brought the car to another chrysler dealership service center and they found the the left lower ball joint was failing due to lack of lubrication. i have that part in my possesion and would gladly send it to you. my concern is that i have spent a significant amount of money on repairs due to these lower ball joint failures and they seem to be manufacturer's problems, not my driving habits. thee have been recalls for other chrysler cars for this very problem, but not the sebring. i think that someone should think about recalling the sebring also. i encourage your office to contact me at any time. thanks, richard settino. *ak

vehicle has a violent shake in the front drive train beginning at approximately 30 mph and ending about 40 mph. the shaking returns at approximately 70 mph. between these speeds, the shaking is present but not as violent. this problem has existed since the vehicle was purchased new in 1994 but has progressively gotten worse with age and milage. it is now to the point that the entire vehilce shakes. the vehicle has been worked by the original dealer who is no longer in business as well as other chrysler dealerships with no solution to the problem. i have contacted chrysler corp. for advise and assistance in identifying the problem several times but neither they nor the dealerships nor the factory representatives have been able or willing to identify the source of the problem. whatever repairs have been suggested by chrysler have been done either under warranty or at my expense. nothing has corrected the problem. the problem continues to get worse and is getting to the point of becoming a real safety concern. i would welcome any information which may be helpful in identifying and solving this problem. *ak

for the last 3 years, we have had nothing but problems with our 2001 town & country awd van. i am in the shop almost once a month! the list of repairs are as follows: (2001) failure of rear-windshield wiper, failure of driver's side heated seat, replaced switch, replaced front drive shaft, replaced power steering reservoir bottle (2002) replaced power steering pump, transmission failure (2003) of rear fan motor, replaced rear-tailgate latch, failure of front passenger heated seat, driver's side window sticks and stays down mostly during wet weather and requires you to turn the defroster on high for 5 minutes to have it go back up, check engine light came on due to leak in compressor, belt still squeals after a hard rain, knob for fog light won't stay on. *la

i bought a 2006 chrysler pacifica. it has been in the shop 3 times now since i go it a year ago. the first two times were for the same thing. it was a rod and lifters. this last time, i was driving down the highway and all of the sudden my wheels turned to the side and then my car skidded to a stop as my tires turned sideways.! i could have been killed as my car was not controllable and almost flipped over. i was told by the tow truck driver that the rocker arm broke causing the drive shaft to fall then the axel broke. the tow truck driver as well as the mechanic at the dealership said that this should not have happened. *tr

2005 chrysler pacifica. consumer states defective airbag *tgw the consumer stated the air bag light illuminated in september 2009. also, there were problems with the transmission control module, brakes, wheel sensors, a clogged throttle body and for the past 18 months there has been a popping sound coming from the left side of the steering components. the dealership made repairs three times, but the popping sound eventually came back. the drive shaft was replaced three time and the rack and pinion was replaced three times. *jb
