the engine will stall after every fill-up. it stalls within 15 seconds after starting it up at the gas station. it will then stall repeatedly at intersections and every time the car comes to a stop. in addition, it has stalled while making right hand turns and misfires and stumbles while at speed. the stalling/misfiring episodes do not occur once 2-3 gallons of gas have been consumed. this situation is extremely dangerous as i have been nearly rear ended as traffic started to pull away from a green light, and also stalled at intersections while making right turns. the chrysler dealer said nothing was wrong since they didn't find any codes or tsb's regarding this problem. i have taken the car to an independent garage and they found a lot of chatter on their mechanic help websites. they think it might be the emission control that sits on top of the gas tank. the top gas in the tank is flooding over to the engine and stalling it out. since chrysler nor anyone else can say what definitively is going on i have cautiously not been filling the tank. this car is dangerous since the next owner may not be aware of this issue.

as with many others, i too have had the problem with gas spitting out of the tank when fueling my 2007 chrysler aspen. this has occurred repeatedly over the past year and a half no matter what precautions i have tried (stopping repeatedly, adjusting the position of the nozzel, etc..). it's dangerous, harmful to skin/clothing/shoes, costly and downright embarrassing. after reading on the internet how common of an issue this is, i cannot believe that chrysler has not stood up and taken action on this - obviously they are not looking to build brand loyalty! *tt

my 2006 pacifica will go from a half a tank of fuel to no fuel in a matter of minutes. this has left us stranded on the side of the road a number of times, sometimes in very dangerous places with my two children in the car. the saddle tank is a very bad design, with the transfer pump. when we are stranded on the road side, if you crawl under the car one side of the tank is hollow empty and the other side is completely full, yet we are waiting on someone to bring us gas. when you try to refuel the car it will only take 3 or 4 gallons before the pump shuts off. to finish you have to almost trickly the gas in the very top of the filler tube. i have contacted chrysler about this problem and they told me that mine was the first complaint they had heard about this, i can't believe that, after reading all the online complaints about the 06 pacificas. my dealership can tell me anything that will for sure fix all the problems. i dont want to pay for all the guessing work, when so many other pacifica owner are having the same problems. 8tt

this car was bought new with approx 300 miles brought from a dealer's inventory in kokomo, in to one in northern kentucky, where it was bought 11 may ,2012..it had been on the previous dealer's lot, as part of inventory, i believe since sep,2011. in total it has stalled while stopped at a light 2 separate times..twice it has either quit while slowing or downshifted causing quite a violent throw forward of persons in their seats while at a relatively slow speed coming to a stop...in the old days it would be the jerk you get while popping a clutch to get a car started with a bad battery.. the third time it stalled was backing out of our driveway...we are now approaching 1000 total miles on the car with less than a month of ownership...made first visit to a dealer service 30 may 2012,..pcm code was updated, but could not duplicate problem..have had one jerky downshift since then ..this has been the recurring theme of many of these instances written up on blogs concerning this model over last 2 years.. side note..this car has remote start capability on the key fob..i noticed a recall last year for some vehicles where they noticed the circuit board inside a fob had vibrated loose, and somehow was sending signals to some component in the car which was causing it to stop...ie. no codes associated with a malfunction like that...might be something to look at too. twice also, the hint of an electrical smell has been detected...same smell i experienced when the pcm on my 1993 ford van cooked itself a couple years ago..at first i wrote it off as a new car thing..but combine that with present and past experiences...well, the connection may not be coincidental. *tr

gas gauge showed 1/3 full & it suddenly dropped to empty. "milesto empty" went from 142 to 14, then 6. upon starting the car the next morning, fuel gauge showed 1/3 full then dropped to empty again. "miles to empty" showed 2. i drove 8 miles then added 14 gallons of gas to fill the 23 gallon tank. it has happened at least 5 times since then. one mechanic told me i had to bring it in when it was happening as it was a sensor issue. another told me the car actually has two gas tanks & the fuel pump vacuum was probably not picking up the fuel from the second tank properly. he said the dealership fixed a 2005 pacifica with the same issue. *tr

after refilling the vehicle with gasoline i travel about a mile from the service station and while coming to a traffic light the vehicle rpm began to decrease until the car engine shut off; i was able to restart the engine and the vehicle drove a short distance and began to stall again. i restarted the vehicle and was able to get the vehicle off the road into a parking lot; after sitting briefly i restarted the vehicle and drove it to tire kingdom to have it checked, the technician scan the vehicle and determined that there was no codes available to determined what caused the malfunction. he took the vehicle for a test drive but was not able to duplicate the discrepancy; in his opinion since the vehicle tank had just got filled more that likely the problem was caused by a vapor lock. i was told since the problem could not be duplicated to continue with my travel and if the problem returned to return the vehicle back for evaluation. *tr

every time this vehicle is filled up with gasoline, (87, 89 or higher octane it doesn't matter), it starts to stall & bucks as the engine rpms fluctuate wildly from 600 to 3000 plus. this happens every time that it is filled up to full & has been going on for more than 1 year. now the check engine light is on. if i only fill it up to 3/4s or even just less than full, the stalling pattern does not occur. i have learned to expect it & either fill it up just shy of full or i drive the van like a standard, (one foot on the brake & the other on the gas). however, i feel that this is only a cheap band-aid for a significant safety issue that warrants a full recall. this issue has been reported multiple times & it would be a shame if it took a serious accident for nhtsa or chrysler to act on the problem. especially if it happens to be my wife or my two teenage age children that are involved in any accident. please act now! *tr

for the last 5 years every time we fill the gas tank on our 2004 town & country with gas is stalls after driving between 50 and 150 yards. on multiple occasions it has stalled in front of several lanes of oncoming traffic after pulling out of gas stations. it has also stalled in front of fast moving oncoming traffic when turning left across oncoming lanes. when it stalls, the motor quits and all power in steering and braking is lost. the van must be put into park in order to restart, which means coming to a complete stop in front of traffic. after restarting it runs fine. we have had approximately 9 occasions where high speed collisions have been very barely avoided, usually with children in the car. it has been reported on automotive online forums and from mechanics as a common problem resulting from a faulty sensor in the chrysler fuel tanks. unfortunately chrysler does not acknowledge this fact. *tr
