roof rack and attached load separated from the vehicle at highway speed without warning causing load to fly off into operating lanes of traffic. the load was secured to the roof rack using heavy duty webbing. it is not possible to secure load to sides rails- only through cross members. cross members attach to side rails via tab and slot mechanism made of plastic. the side rails are also made of plastic. the cross members broke through the slots in the side rails taking the still secured load with them. the property damage includes my estimate for the cost of roof rack replacement and loss of personal property.*ak
