i have a 2007 uplander lt. i bought it brand new jan 2007. in april 2007, my passenger side sliding door began messing up. the door would open at time. it was taken to the dealership 6 times total, the 5th time it was taken with the door open, because it would not close. by that point, gm was involved and recommended complete replacement of the mechanical portion of the door. this was done by the dealership or so everyone thought. it began messing up again and i took it in for the last time and it was determined the technician only replaced portion of the parts. it was finally fixed that last time and i got one year free oil change and tire rotation. the story does not end. in april 2010, my driver side sliding door started messing up. it has been taken in to a different dealership 8 times, even though they officially say it is 6 times. i get the same response each time, they cannot reproduce. gm has now got involved twice and at this point has also been no help to find the root cause. this time around the door unlatches itself both when sitting and while driving. it never opens like the passenger door did. the alarm that goes off when a door is open when you have the key in the ignition and the vehicle started, sounds and there is no indication on the display that a door is open. the door will sometimes not open via remote, overhead or the side button. most of the time it has to be opened manually, once that occurs no amount of battery power will close the door. the door has to be forced closed. the door will also, in the middle of closing, open back up and then go into alarm. two of the times taken the service experienced the quirks of the door. once it was back to where the service tech can look at it, it would not reproduce. no error codes have ever been shown on readouts. the vehicle currently has 66800 miles. the battery was replaced in nov 2009 and when i took it in the first time in may 2010, they blamed it on third party. still having problems.*tr

the motor to the rear latch on the driver side sliding door does not appear strong enough to pull in, bolt shut and lock the hasp over the rear staple. door requires an external "hip check" or strong push on the rear of the door to hear a "click" that confirms that the door is locked shut. without this action, the door may repeatedly reopen, up to 20-30 attempts, each time emitting an alarm that makes the vehicle unable to drive. this issue was first raised to the dealer within the first year of purchase, has been repeatedly raised to the dealer, up to a half dozen times over the course of the last two years, and was raised to the manufacturer within the past year. each submission results in the dealer not being able to reproduce the phenomena or fix the problem. the door safety alarm is imperfect as there have been many times the door closes, the alarm is not activated, but the rear of the door appears closed. later however, after some driving, the rear of the door appears slightly ajar, possibly due to the normal jostling experienced during driving. the unsecured door is often first detected when the driver hears street traffic while driving. this sound is similar to the sound coming from a slightly open window. if not noticed during driving, the slight opening of the rear portion of the sliding door is also visually noticeable by looking at the door from the rear of the van. *tr

i own a 2005 chevy uplander. the passenger rear door doesn't seem to want to close. on a few occasions the door has opened while driving down the road. other times the door randomly starts beeping and will not stop, even if you turn the van off and get out it still beeps. is there a recall on the doors of this type of van. i have found many complaints expressing concerns over this same issue. *tr

abs light came on after brakes were replaced by chevrolet mechanic. took back and was told needed new front wheel hub. hub was replaced at our expense, and abs light was reset by chevrolet certified mechanic. abs light came back on before left the parking lot, but mechanic said it was okay and he wouldn't worry about it. left on vacation the next day. newly replaced brakes made horrible grinding noises all throughout trip. also began getting intermittent brake warning light, and "service brake system" and "service abs system" warnings. crawled under vehicle and found wires to the new wheel hub were broken at wheel hub. wires were for the wheel rotation sensor, as it was improperly installed. replaced wheel hub again at our expense, because chevrolet certified mechanic said first hub wasn't installed improperly, but also said the only way the wires could have become torn would be if it had been installed improperly. abs light and brake light were out for about one (1) week. second replacement hub and wiring are still intact, but still have continuous abs light and intermittent brake light as well as previously mentioned warnings. different chevrolet certified mechanic says there is nothing to worry about, only problem is that abs system will not function, but brakes will still work as if no abs system were on the vehicle. also had the same problem with the continuous abs light on a different chevrolet vehicle. if chevy can't make the abs system work after the brakes are worked on, why continue with the extra expense of putting them on? i now have two(2) chevrolet abs systems that their certified mechanics say are in tip top condition, only problem is neither system works. also, regarding the 2005 uplander, the driver's side sliding door will not shut properly, resulting in constant warning chimes every time the door is used. again, chevy mechanics say nothing is wrong with the door or the system. maybe chevy should get out of the car business! *tr

a year ago one day the right rear passenger door was shut and locked. when we arrived back home and unlocked the car doors we were unable to open the right rear passenger door. we have been unable to get it repaired and are unable to open the door. for more than a year the left rear passenger door will frequently come off its track and make it impossible to shut the door. the rubber lining designed to provide sound proofing and waterproofing frequently comes off and makes it almost impossible to get the door back on track and shut it. las week upon opening the door it came off its track again and it appears that some pieces are also missing. we were able to get the door shut but we haven't been able to open the door since. *tr

our 2006 chevy uplander's side automatic doors open on their own as you are driving down the road. in addition, the doors will not close all of the way. we have taken the vehicle to a chevy dealer around 10 times to correct the problem and the correction will last for a few days only. not sure what they have done to try and correct the problem but it has not worked yet. i have four young children that ride in the vehicle and i am very concerned with this problem. not a lot of fun to be traveling down the road at 70 mph and have the alarms start going off while the door is opening up. we have been having this problem for the last year. *tr

right back passenger door wouldn't close properly 3 days after purchase; took it in for adjustment. 2 years later, during which my baby was sitting next to that door, the latch failed and the door was inoperable. latch was supposedly fixed. fuel/oxygen injector failure 3 times; waiting on a part. taken in for squealing brakes 3 times; was told the brake pads were on recall. 2 years later, i'm still waiting on the brake pads. anti-lock brake trouble twice, stability control system failure twice, sensor malfunctions on a regular basis, check engine light on a regular basis; each time it is taken to mechanic. i've been told to ignore the problems if the warning goes off the next time i start the car, and to only bring it in if the warnings go on and off a few times. a few times the mechanic has said they can't find anything wrong with it, but the warning lights keep coming back on. *tr

1 opened drivers side rear door at day care.. closed door and it feel to the ground. the silver piece that slid on the track on the side of the vehicle completely broke off. i go inside the car to call assistance after picking the door up and putting it in a restin position on the car. i get inside and the doors lock and will not open i could not get out of the car. i go to dealership and they fix it making me pay for only half of the part and no labor. i go pick up my children and the door that was suppose to be fixed will not shut completely but locks and my driver door will not open because it is locking its self. my children were stuck in the car in hot texas weather with out airconditioning. luckily the door opened after a minute or so of my pulling and unlocking and locking the door. this was very scary for two reason what if the door falls off while im driving and what if i cant get my kids out ! i will be taking it back in the morning vut it was very scary. 2 twice 3 new piece and hinge put on sliding door. *tr

i picked up my stepdaughter & her friends from the mall. my mom was in the passenger seat. my stepdaughter & her friends got in the 2nd row & 3rd row seats. we shut the door & drove off. the rear passenger door message came on & the locks started clicking. i pulled over to check the door & it was ajar. i opened the door, shut it & made sure it was closed then drove off. the whole way home the door kept clicking as if it were trying to close & the locks were trying to catch. this happened several months ago and i've been trying to get this problem fixed ever since. every day the doors click, because the door is not completely closed. i called the dealership were i've been getting work done, because a year into having the vehicle the motors on both doors had to be replaced. this is my 2nd year going into my 3rd year of having the van; however this is the 2nd time i've had problems with the doors. i don't carry passengers, because i'm afraid the doors are going to pop open & someone will fall out! though i got this problem fixed before, the parts are no longer under warranty & they are charging me $100 just to look at the doors & assess the problem. depending on what's going on i may be charged $800 today to fix this problem & reading the complaints on this car today soothes the fact that i'm not the only 1 having this problem with my doors; however, someone needs to do more than have us complain. these vehicles need to be recalled & fixed asap, before someone gets hurt badly or killed! *tr

power sliding doors open / close by themselves at times (usually right door, but sometimes left). sometimes, when the door has been closed it will reopen & have to be closed manually. at times the door will stay closed, but the 'dinging' noise will continue for the entire time i am driving. there have been occasions when it continued dinging well after the ignition was turned off. we have had it in the shop and 'fixed' a few times. the fix sometimes lasted a week or two. sometimes, it only lasted a couple of days. we were never able to pinpoint or predict when the malfunction would occur. finally, we have removed the fuse permanently and only operate the doors manually to prevent a serious injury from occurring to the children. in the rear (3rd) seat, the right seat belt has also retracted & will not release. this happened one day when i was trying to remove a child from the vehicle. he was in a booster seat and strapped in by the seat belt. when i unlatched the belt, it retracted slightly, but would not pull back out. now it is too tight to place a car seat, booster, or have someone sit there. i have not made the trip to the service department for this situation. no one is allowed to sit it that seat because the safety restraint is not-usable. *tr

i recently had my 2007 chevrolet uplander,in for service/repair to the right side psd(power sliding door) on my van. the technician only cleaned the contacts and said that there was nothing wrong with it. the door still is not opening/closing correctly, the motor is still making a grinding sound & does not stop, the control switches do not work part of the time to open/shut door, the door "sticks"in open/close position, and occasionally the door will open while the vehicle is in motion. i have had this problem ever since i purchased this van in 2007. but,no one seems to find anything wrong with it or even cares to look any further than the door's contacts.this is a very serious concern, as i have a four year old daughter in a carseat next to this door! is there anyway of getting this problem fixed/solved? i have already contacted & reported this issue to general motors/chevrolet, and have not had any satisfactory help regarding this. *tr

in 2005 chevy uplander lt awd automatic sliding doors open and do not close properly while vehicle is in motion. this also causes the audible alarm indicating the doors are unlatched to "ding" or ring. even after the vehicle is stopped and doors are re-closed this issue persists. this is a huge safety issue in a van that is fairly new with 34,000 miles and used to carry children between activities in local area. *tr
