i purchased a new 2000 chevy 3500 4 door dully. it now has 67,000 miles. the truck has worn out seven sets of brakes and at this moment it needs the 8th set plus the front rotors are cracked from excessive heat and need to be replaced. even with new brake pads the truck will not stop as it should you must drive it like your driving in snow. i seldom drive it over 55 miles per hour unless i am on the open road with no cars in sight. i have had no accidents just several close calls. but that is a result only of my defensive driving habits. i purchased this truck for heavy hauling but the truck won't stop itself much less a loaded trailer. the dealer was happy to put new brakes on as long as the general was paying the bill but now that the 3 years 36,000 has expired it's just me and my check book. *la

since consumer has owned vehicle, three brake pads have worn out and needed to be replaced. front right brake pad tended to wear out more than the left - but both were replaced.front left brake overheated and glowed red during normal operating conditions. *note: while traveling over bumpy surfaces, consumer attempted to apply brakes and it felt as if there was no pressure for brakes to function. dealership has examined the vehicle, but could not remedy the problem. please provide any additional information/attachments. *ak

brake pedal always low, soft, sometimes stand on it with both feet to stop truck, worse with load in it. replaced pads and shoes at 15,000 miles. better, but still requires your undivided attention when braking.the problem can be best summarized as follows: i would use my landscape trailer brakes to help stop this truck. on my new ford f350, i have yet to hook up the trailer brake controller and the truck stops on a dime-repeatedly-pulling the same trailer.very unsafe brakes on the chevy-i owned three 1998 chevy trucks-all had terrible brake performance.
