while driving during any snow the wheels get packed with ice and or snow to the point where the balance is severely thrown off necessitating stopping to clean out the wheels repeatedly in order to operate the car safely. steering is compromised and the car shakes violently at speeds over 55-60 mph. not to mention having to get out of the automobile on the roadside in a snowstorm to clean out the wheels. this poses both operational and situational safety concerns. i think audi should supply wheels which are appropriate for winter driving, especially in this all-wheel drive automobile. *ak

on 10/17/00 , the driver's side front wheel of this vehicle broke away from the rotor. subsequent loss of control of vehicle, however, luckily no injuries. unfortunately, another vehicle ran over the wheel which had continued down the highway. mechanic suggested metal fatigue. sent notification to audi client relations for reimbursement of expenses. also, suggested audi look into my incident with an eye towards public safety. i have the faulty wheel along with the rotor at my residence for anyone to inspect. i also requested audit to inspect all my wheels and also the wheels of my other 1994 audi 90 cs. this is a very serious situation, especially if metal fatigue was the cause. *ak

dt: while traveling about 40 mph on newly purchased wheels and tires, consumer struck a pothole, and noticed afterwards the car was shaking and drove home. after examination, 3 of the wheels were bent on a pot hole at a speed of 40 mph. consumer felt as though vehicle was not safe to drive because it vibrated at a speed of 30 mph or more. consumer contacted tire dealer, and was told there was no warranty. consumer then explained to dealer it was unlikely that 3 wheels would bend on a pot hole. but tire dealer would not give a refund. dealer noted that, that manufacturer had similar problems with wheels bending. consumer had to have wheels replaced. borbet manufacturer wheels, german. *ak *sb *nm

with 33,000 miles on the vehicle: the standard alloy wheels corrode to the wheel hub over a period of 4 months. if the wheel is needed to be removed e.g. flat tire or change from winter wheels, it will not come off with normal tools and conditions. the car must be elevated on a lift and the wheel pounded with extreme brute force to remove it. this has happened twice to me. i find it extremely unsafe that a flat tire can't be replaced without having a tow truck take the car to a shop--just to remove the wheel. the audi technician says that if i use brake anti-seize product on the wheel/hub junction it may prevent it. [my question is "why didn't they apply this if they already knew it was needed]. *tr

tl*the contact owns a 1999 audi a4 quatro. the contact bought the vehicle from a private dealer. as he drove the vehicle off the lot, he heard a grinding noise coming from the brakes. he informed the sales associate that there was rust underneath the vehicle, including the brake pads. the contact took the vehicle back to the dealer and they stated that they would give him another vehicle for an additional $3,000. the other vehicle had a cracked windshield and needed a new fuel pump; therefore, the contact did not want the other vehicle. he kept the audi and took it to an audi dealer for a diagnostic. the results indicated that the bearings were rusted and the vehicle needed an alignment and new brake pads. in addition, the rims were bent. the audi dealer stated that the vehicle should have never been sold in that condition and with those defects. the vehicle has not been repaired. the failure mileage was 142,926 and current mileage was 142,927. updated 03/17/09. *lj the upper and lower control arms were worn. updated 03/18/09. *jb

i bought 2008 a4 on late december of 2008. car came with the pirelli p6 four seasons tires..owned the car for 3 months now have 3600miles on the car.. first had 2 tire damages after driving on minor bumpy road at 25mph.. 1 tire got punctured on the sidewall 1 had bubbles on it.. went back to the dealership ordered the same set of tires and replace them.. after 2 weeks, had another blow out on the same exact spot on the side wall with same damage.. then again week later.. on nj turnpike at high speed had sudden blow out..which was resulted from sidewall puncture..and again ended up with flat tire and a bubble on the others.. i've noticed the same pattern here first you get bubble easily from normal type of driving going over little bumpy or rough roads.. then all the sudden that bubble blows out, end up getting the blow out or a puncture.. i contacted pirelli tires several times and they denied on defective tire on this specific model.. they said they had nothing to do with blow outs cause from road hazards.. when the tire it self are defective in a way.. they should really recall this tire or get them off the market before someone really gets hurt or killed... thank god i avoided an accident but it was real dangerous.. it could be yourself or your family member.. i find pirelli tires highly responsible on this matter. and audi america and nhtsa should deal with them. *tr

on 3-25- i bought a 2002 audi a4 quattro from a local used car dealer. at the time of purchase the "check engine" light was on and the car could not pass inspection.the seller assured me that the car would pass inspection after he changed the catalytic converter. he held onto the car and a week later i got it back and the inspection sticker was affixed. shortly thereafter while driving the car 20 mph down the street of dracut, ma the rear driver's-side rear wheel fell off. the dracut police responded and documented the incident. they called a tow truck and the car was returned to the seller. he suggested that his mechanic had failed to tighten the lug nuts after doing brake work on the rear brakes... the wheel was re-attached by the seller (or his mechanic). a few days later the "check engine" light came back on since the after-market converter failed and the car could not pass inspection. on another occasion the engine splashguard fell off the car outside the door of the seller. i left the car there. the splashguard was re-attached by the seller or his mechanic (with plastic ties, since he claimed he did not have the parts ... even though he had my car for over 24 hrs!). what if i had been driving the car when this occurred? in both cases i could have been killed or injured, and other people could have been killed or injured as well. i question if these are "isolated" incidents, and if this is an ongoing pattern of deceptive and unfair practices which are placing the citizenry health and safety at risk? i subsequently returned the vehicle to the seller and demanded a refund under the ma lemon law warranty. i was refunded my purchase price. the seller has refused to reimburse me my "incidental costs" as required by this law. i have sent the seller a demand letter and will pursue the matter in court if he does not reimburse the money i lost - a sum o $1738.37. *tr

while driving to new york city from north carolina on interstate 95, i encountered heavy traffic around silver spring, md. after approximately 30 minutes of driving in slow-moving traffic, the clutch pedal failed to return from its engaged position and the vehicle stalled. with the engine off, i manually pulled and returned the clutch pedal back to its released position. i then proceeded to restart the engine and pressed the clutch pedal. again, the clutch pedal remained stuck in the engaged position. moments later smoke became to appear from under the right side of the hood. a police officer who happened to be nearby helped push the car to the left shoulder of the interstate and left, while smoke kept escaping from under the hood. no further assistance was provided by the police officer. shortly after the departure of the police officer, flames appeared alongside the smoke from the right side of the hood and the interior of the vehicle began to fill up with dense smoke. while frantically removing my dog, suitcases and other personal belongings from the vehicle, a motorist stopped to assist me and with the use of his own fire extinguisher put out the fire. the damaged vehicle was towed to a nearby audi dealership and subsequently taken to another location to be evaluated by an insurance adjuster and by audi of america. a rental car had to be used to complete the travel. the insurance adjuster has since declared the damaged vehicle a "total loss". the vehicle in question had not missed any manufacture-recommended service at authorized audi dealerships. the last such service was conducted the week prior to this accident.

tires purchased from liberty tire and brake on 05/01/14 were manufactured between 2008-2009 with only 3-9 months of warranty left. on our way home from our family vacation from the fl keys on 07/06/14 one tire separated and all four tires were off balance. we purchased four new tires to continue our 500 mile journey home. due to limited trunk space with luggage and our children in the backseat we were only able to bring the damaged tire back with us which nexen will refund us. however we would also like a refund for the other three tires manufacture in 2008-2009 who have been sold to us without the age disclosure by liberty tire & brake. the retailer has been very little help in resolving this issue and we have since reported him to the bbb, consumer protection, and sent a letter of demand from our military legal assistance office here in ft. stewart, ga. we are reporting this per our telephone conversation with ref. # 686300 any help would be greatly appreciated. if you need any additional information or purchase receipts please feel free to contact us. sincerely eric & christine flynn
