wheels loses traction on slick road conditions causing driver to lose steering control capabilities. dealer has been contacted. *ak consumer states that when vehicle is on ice or packed snow and the tires are at their limit of adhesion, the center differential senses slip in the front or rear wheels and transfers power to the other end of the vehicle, this causes vehicle to break traction at that axle and the differential switches power to the other end, breaking it loose once again. *slc

2002 audi a6 avante wagon automatic transmission - there is a significant"hesitation" on acceleration such that the car does not initially respond when the accelerator is depressed but does so suddenly a short time reslting in a hesitation. i consider this to be a significant safety concern since the acceleration of the car is unpredictable. the car has been taken to two dealers to deal with this problem, both reporting that this is normal for the "fly-by-the-wire" systems which is used in the car and that there is no adjustment or correction for this. i find it to be of concern and a safgety issue that aaudi should deal with before there is a serious accident.

failure to accelerate. i experience major delays in any acceleration immediately after i have depressed the brake (at any speed) and then try to reaccelerate. i understand that this is a common complaint among all audi tiptronic owners regardless of engine type. it is not, as audi tries to say, "turbo lag." in almost every failure to date, i have almost been involved in an accident due to this problem. had other drivers been less attentive, i most surely would have been struck. i am hesitant to pull out into any volume of traffic with this persistent problem. *la

audi 2001 a6 2.7t tiptronic while in d transmission mode, car does not accelerate per accelerator input after using the brakes. there is a delay of about a couple of seconds before car accelerates. this happens after braking from low speeds followed by gentle acceleration and also when braking from higher speeds followed by either gentle or aggressive acceleration. often there will be a pronounced jerk when the car starts to accelerate after the delay. *la safety issue typical situation: when crossing medians to merge with traffic in the opposite direction, oncoming traffic have to brake heavily to avoid a collision because the car is unable to accelerate smartly after braking. the same crossing in previously owned audi a4 1.8t and audi a4 2.8 (both without fly by wire throttle) could be safely negotiated without any acceleration delay. this situation is unacceptable and highly dangerous in normal everyday driving. references from audiworld.com forums it is apparent that there are many owners experiencing this problem. all have the audi tiptronic transmission and fly by wire throttle system, not limited to the 2.7t model. here is the link to the latest messages http://forums.audiworld.com/a6/msgs/304185.phtml also, consumer reports have noted the delay in acceleration when testing this car. here is the link. http://www.consumerreports.org/main/detailv2.jsp?content%3c%3ecnt_id=302773&folder%3c%3efolder_id=97851&assortment%3c%3east_id=333137&bmuid=1066370138539 several other reviews in the u.s. automobile press have also noted the delay. repair local audi dealer is unable to offer a solution since their troubleshooting techniques only indicate a "no fault found" or "unable to duplicate" situation (several visits). escalation to audi headquarters elicits statements such as "working as per design, "safety feature (prevent over revving damage to engine/transmission)", and "system has to process a lot of data". *la

car shakes and shudders when coming to a stop. when trying to start from a stop, car hesitates before moving. can roll backwards if car is on an uphill incline. natural response is to depress gas pedal further. transmission then engages and car lurches forward. took car to dealer 3 times. first time transmission fluid topped off. second time tranmission control unit software upgraded. 3rd time we were told that the problem cannot be fixed, even with transmission replacement.*ak

2001 audi a6 allroad has had a brake/throttle lag issue since it was purchased. the car can be extremely dangerous to drive. my wife was driving the allroad and she told me that she was almost hit by an oncoming vehicle when the car did not "go" as she expected it too, based on her throttle inputs. at another intersection she lifted her foot off of the gas, reapplied the gas and this time the car went so fast that she almost hit the car in front of her at the upcoming intersection. she told me that she was almost crying because "i did not tell her the car 'drove like that!'" the problems are: 1). aoa issued a technical service bulletin dated september 9th of 2004 on this isue., not a recall. 2) i complained for over 1 year about this problem to the dealer before the ecu was replaced on may 15th of 2004. (i have copies of letters sent to audi) 3) the new control unit put in the car in may of 2004 does not work correctly either, by reasonable specifications, or else my wife would not have had this problem. 4) a "judder happens when turing slowly and giving the car gas, too. this may be the reason that the vehicle has had to have seals replaced in the motor and transmission, too, from the electrical miscommunications between the ecu and the transmission. 5) this is an extremely dangerous problem and needs to be figured out by aoa as well as under a national recall campaign. 6) audi told me today that the car is "performing to specs," which is a lie. this car has been to the dealership over 100 documented times, but aoa just says, "we are sure the car can be reapaired under your new car/certified used car warranty, thank you!"

volkswagen of america dba audi of america initiated a recall on my car, alleging there were "defective welds" in a seam on the clutch. the recall is documented under recall campaign "ja". audi sent me notice that they were going to replace the clutch. audi of america sent a notice to their dealers performing the recall work, that there was, "additional corrective action" they wanted performed to the car during the recall. they did not disclose this action to me or obtain my permission to perfom the "additional corrective action". when my car was returned to me, the dealer, apparently under instruction from audi of america, disabled an electronic feature of the car, electronic launch control, that was operating prior to taking the car in for the recall. audi of america and the dealer did this without my knowledge or consent. audi of america refuses to restore the feature to the car, or provide any explanation justifying their action.

luckily i haven't had an accident but my vehicle does have a dangerous problem. if you brake hard and then step on the throttle the car will jerk and not want to start going again. it is very dangerous if you are trying to merge into traffic or get out of the way. i was informed it was a programmed "safety" feature intended to stop accidental acceleration. it seems to be exactly the opposite to me. *jb
