hello: recently i had a failure with the abs braking system on my 2000 audi a4, 2.8l. this failure was verified by the audi dealer in wilmington, de. from the dealer and according to many articles, this failure is common with this make. so common, that audi/vw did a recall on vw's, but not on audi's. this is not fair and i am hear to voice my safety concern. *tr

while driving in dry/fair weather conditions and at highway speeds (50 and 70 mph) the esp warning light came on and engaged the abs system for no apparent reason. it created a loss of control of the audi q7 4.2 until i turned off the esp system as i exited the freeway to stop and then restart the vehicle. this has happened three times in the pasted 100 miles and 3 months. the selling dealer found no codes and nothing has been resolved. this is not a safe situation for me, and audi has offered no solution to the dealer tech to date. *tr

i currently own a 2007 audi q7 3.6 and believe there is a safety issue with all 2007 3.6 vehicles. the vehicle is advertised to have the towing ability to tow up to 6600lbs. on three separate occasions while towing a 435lb aluminum trailer the check engine light came on along with the epc (electronic power control) light and the car goes into a safe mode which will not allow you to go over 3000rpms. this problem only occurs while towing for over an hour but when the safe mode is installed the car has no power and with a trailer still hooked up the car has trouble going over 45mph. this is a very dangerous situation especially on the highway when trucks are passing you doing 70mph. my q7 was in the dealership three times for this problem and i'm still not satisfied that the problem has been corrected. they downloaded new software to my engine control module which changes the performance of my car but i believe anyone who owns this same vehicle and attempts to tow will find themselves in the same dangerous situation. most people don't use this type of car to tow with even though they advertise this as a selling point. all 2007 q7 3.6 vehicles should be tested and have the updated software installed in there car before someone gets hurt *tr

hi. i have a 1998 audi a4 6 cylinder quatro5 speed. it has 97k miles. the abs light has come on and i understand that it is a common failure. approx. $1700 repair at the dealer. i understand that vw has had a recall for exactly the same issue with exactly the same part. it seems like such a recall should extend the audi using the same part, which has a high failure rate. it seems to be a very serious safety issue and should be recalled and repaired by audi. can you help me understand why a part and safety issue would be recalled for vw but not for audi? here is a link to further information: thanks! http://audi-vw-abs-recall.blogspot.com/2005/07/audi-and-vw-please-recall-cars-between.html. *tr

my brake light started beeping and flashing one day while driving. the beeping and flashing continued through the next couple of weeks. i took my car to my mechanic and he said i would have to take it to the dealer because audi won't release their service codes. i called the dealer and asked what was going on. the mechanic asked me "were you driving your car in the rain?" i had quite a few sarcastic responses to the stupid question but i just said, yeah. i assume a car is engineered to be driven in all climates including, rain. a product should be designed to perform its intended use. not the a4. who needs an all wheel drive car if they don't plan on driving it through rain and snow? the mechanic told me that my abs control module needs to be replaced and it would cost me $1500. he told me that my abs and all wheel drive would not work properly until i fix it. i live in colorado and i frequently drive through the snow. i drive through the rocky mountains in icy and dangerous conditions. luckily, it was summer time when my module went out. i take my little sisters, little brothers, and nephews snowboarding. i could have been seriously injured or killed or i could have seriously injured or killed someone else because i was driving a vehicle that i thought had abs, but didn't. there is a slim margin for error when you are driving on snowy curves through the mountains. i could be at the bottom of the cliff by the time i realize my abs wasn't working. or i could slide over a group of pedestrians. even if audi doesn't want to pay for the repairs, they should at least notify their owners that this is a very common problem that drivers should be aware of. i went online and i was not surprised to see that thousands of other people had the same problem. audi did absolutely nothing except offer to repair the broken module for full price. *tr

audi q7 4.2l with 34200 miles lost rpm on highway, speed suddenly dropped from 62mph to 22 mph, when esp light came on and engaged the abs. the car behind could barely stop, disturbing the entire traffic. frequent problems with the esp (electronic stabilization program), the esp light will come on and off multiple times, mostly on, along with the malfunction indicator lamp. when esp light comes on, the car is jerking and it involves the abs (anti-lock brake system), although the weather/streets conditions are very good (dry, paved streets, summer sunny days). took car to the dealer 3 times, did not fix the problem. i was told i am the first one who experienced this kind of problem, and that i am the "guinea pig" for them. it is clear that this car represents a great potential danger while in traffic. today, i was almost involved in an accident. how about tomorrow? do we need more "guinea pigs"? *tr

i have locked my brakes and had a near accident. my abs and esp has stopped working on my 2003 audi a6. i was told the abs control units are known to go bad, and will cost over a $1000 to fix. i cannot afford to fix. if this is a widespread problem, shouldn't audi be held accountable for any traffic accidents due to failure, and should there be a recall? *tr

the abs module in audi's 1998-2001 is a common problem. one day it was fine and the next the abs light and brake light came on the dash and went away after some driving. *tt at first the abs light would come and go. but as a week passed from the 1st day of the indecent it started to appear more often and longer. after 2 weeks the abs light and brake light stayed on.

i purchased the vehicle on 02/11/2012 and that very evening when i had the opportunity to use the lights, my right light began to flicker and then failed completely. this really unnerved me as i was in an area with no street lights. and didn't really know what was happening. i instinctively turned the lights off and then on again, and this made them come back on. unfortunately, this happened numerous times that night. i feel this is a blatant safety issue especially as i had family members in my car and their well being was compromised. i have researched this problem via the internet and it appears to be rampant on audi's and the dealerships don't either know what to do or don't want to do it as for the expense of the parts.i spoke with no less than 8 audi dealerships around the pa northeast and no one could positively say what would be the problem. i am having the bulb replaced at my cost because i bought the car used and have no warranty. now i know why i was able to purchase it at a good cost. last owner was probably crazy over this. by all accounts, even replacing the bulb might not work. there are no less than 4 tsb's out on this problem. why audi gets away with this is a travesty and this should be remedied as soon as possible before someone gets killed. *tr

my 2005 audi a6 has water damage. some how over night heavy rain seepage left an inch of water behind driver seat. car was parked in driveway at a slight incline. all windows and doors where closed. this has caused $2,700 electrical damage to modules located under front passenger seat. these modules alert me about esp/abs and park brake as well as a module that powers the vehicles mmi/navigation and stereo system. none of these function anylonger. i don't know where the water entered my vehicle. is audi responsible? this appears to be a design flaw. *tr

multiple issues on this car that all came on about the same time. the amb/parking brake module/esp warning lit up, and a few days later the car was not shifting into gear on startup, and when it did shift into gear it shifted erratically and went into neutral on occasion. the transmission control module, abs sensors both went bad on the car and the car was unable to shift into gear. the car sat at audi len stoler in owings mills, md for 2 weeks for problem to be diagnosed. they said it was the transmission control module and the abs sensor that was bad. they replaced the abs sensor in the hopes that it would resolve the transmission problem! it did not. the bill for the abs, and a failed driver door lock switch replacement was almost $1400! the transmission control module is a small black box that has the circuitry that controls the transmission. the part alone costs $2600 and with labor it costs almost $4000 - quote from dealer. a 2008 wit 70k and a tcm fails? according to audi forums, this is a prevalent issue. audi needs to do the right thing and recall these cars and get this serious issue fixed. it is a design/quality control flaw. the tcm issue also causes the car to not shift right, or go into neutral while car is being driven. recall these cars before lives are lost (if they have not already been lost). these are significant safety issues and is happening with newer cars. my car has been dealer maintained since new and i am a meticulous owner that does not abuse the car. these are premature failures that should not be occurring at this age and mileage. *tr

i was driving my car in my work parking lot when a loud beep occurred and my car issued a warning for "parking break malfunction." two lights, esc and abs also lit up when the beep sounded. i immediately stopped driving, engaged the parking brake (which worked) and disengaged it. i am the second owner of the car and after some research found that the brake module and mmi both had been upgraded by the previous owner. i continued to witness these symptoms and am waiting for my dealership to run a diagnostic. i have read enough consumer complaints about this specific problem to know that audi should take a deeper look into it.
