i own a 2002 acura tl type-s. i was involved in two separate collisions where i was hit from the rear. in both instances the head rest failed to secure my head in the crash. this is due to their "a-frame" design. the standard tl has proper head rest to cushion you in a crash. *nlm

Acura Rdx 2008
Honda (american Honda Motor Co.)

the head restraints on the front seats tilt forward way too much. this causes the people sitting in the front seat, especially the driver, to have to hold their head down while driving. this stresses the muscle in the neck causing fatigue to the neck. this could result in some drivers having accidents and causing injury. i am talking about the 2008 honda cr-v. this needs to be checked as it could harm some drivers. *tr

Acura Mdx 2007

Dec 18, 2007
Location:
Endicott, NY

newest info from iihs shows that both of my acura mdx's ('04 and early '07) did very poorly on the rear collision/head restraint test (whiplash). acura apparently realized this blunder because mdx's made after may '07 passed with flying colors. this has me very concerned to say the least for me and my families safety. acura changed something with regard to the seats and i wish they would apply it to all of the mdx's (at least my '07). *tr

Acura Mdx 2009
Honda (american Honda Motor Co.)
Safety incident date:
Feb 15, 2010
Location:
Valparaiso, IN

there must be a defect in my 2009 acura mdx head restraint system. i believe it has resulted in or contributed to a neck injury . i have had neck pain bad enough to require four months of physical therapy and five surgical procedures. the head rest forces my neck and head into an unnatural forward position. the head rest only moves up and down and not forward and back. i am unable to adjust the seat and steering wheel to accommodate for the lack of adjustable in the head rest. *tr

Acura Tl 2010
Honda (american Honda Motor Co.)
Safety incident date:
Dec 28, 2010

the new vehicle headrest restraints are awful and most people, including car sales managers are turning their headrests around offering no support. while this may solve your insurance payout issue (bc turned around headrests negate payouts), it will not improve crash outcomes, which really should be your goal but is obviously not. *tr
